Details
The air isn't always breathable in caves, at high elevations, or other extreme locations. Equip yourself to mine safely, or face the consequences!
A Fabric/Quilt continuation of Thin Air by Fusz (as the original project was discontinued), which itself was a port of Miner's Lung by Petra.
Features
- In deep caves and at high elevations the air is hazardous to breathe!
Equipping a Respirator allows you to to breathe there, or Air Bladders can be used to restore your breath. - Similarly, the air in the Nether is hazardous to breathe, and in The End there's no air at all!
- Respirators can be repaired with charcoal, and Air Bladders can be refilled in breathable air.
- Potions of Free Breathing (renamed from Water Breathing) allow you to breathe anywhere, as does Conduit Power.
- Soul Fire & its campfire, torch, and lantern stop you from losing your breath, giving you a respite, but they don't help you recover it.
- Safety Lanterns indicate the current local air quality both in your inventory and when placed in the world.
- Lava & fire make the air immediately surrounding them unbreathable.
- Nether & End Portals allow air to "pass through", making a small bubble of breathable air around them on the other side.
- sitelen kepeken toki pona a! (toki pona translation! (i'm still learning, so it's likely imperfect))
Compatibility
- Trinkets is (currently) required; Respirators can be placed in the face slot.
As Trinkets has not yet updated to 1.21.8, that version of Thinner Air does not use it. - Create's diving equipment activates in hazardous air, allowing you to breathe safely. Backtanks can only be refilled in safe air.
- Dimensional Doors's pockets have blue air quality and dungeons have yellow air quality, both for thematic reasons and to prevent cheesing other areas.
- The Aether is breathable in middle elevations, but very low and very high areas have low oxygen, similar to the overworld.
- TODO: trigger Ad Astra spacesuit(?)
Additionally, the mod was written with performance in mind, and it should have very minor impacts on TPS. Only players are affected by the need to breathe.
The mod is also highly data-driven and configurable, allowing you to define which blocks emit what air quality, the natural air quality of any dimension at any elevation (and even dimension-specific emitters!); see the guide.
Requires Fabric API (or QSL).
You may include and distribute this mod, unmodified, in modpacks. Do not distribute this mod on its own, and do not download this mod from anywhere other than Modrinth!
