Introducing: Gravel Placers!
for the longest of times, i felt like there's some excitement missing form rivers.
this addon to spelunkery and oreganized aims to fix that by bringing a new brushable block with precious loot that'll be meaningfull far into the future of your world.

With this mod, gravel placers will generate throughout your world's rivers. you'll be able to gather them using brushes, or if you're in a hurry, with shovels! (though if you don't have fortune III, you might get worse drops...)
the placers will give you five different raw ore nuggets, which are meant to mirror the real-life native metals. three originate from spelunkery (copper, silver, gold), one of the ones i added myself is platinum, and the other is a native alloy, electrum.
COMPLETE FEATURES LIST
- adds gravel placers, a block that spawns in rivers
- gravel placers can be brushed for materials, which are raw metal nuggets and flint
- mining them with silk touch gives you the gravel placer (unless you already have slightly brushed it) and mining it with a fortune 3 shovel yields the same chances for good loot as brushing (lower levels have lower yield)
- two new raw metal nuggets: electrum and platinum (thus making the placers drop all metals that are "native" irl)
- electrum can be smelted into oreganized electrum
- electrum can be "eaten", and gives a custom death message
- platinum can be used as an early game way to repair items, since it's an universal repair item that doesn't cost exp to use and doesn't make future repairs/enchantments more expensive
- platinum repairs all damageable items for 1/8th their durability, unlike normal repair materials, which repair 1/4th
- new advancement: Gravel Placer Placer (awarded after placing down a gravel placer)

it isn't the largest of mods, but it's a start alright! it's a mod i'd consider my first real one, since the other two projects i released here and there were so small i don't consider them "real". i hope you enjoy!

Q&A
Q: Fabric port? A: yeah, sure, why not! DM me on Discord if you're even interested in such a thing, though. contact info on my profile
Q: Will you port to (insert version here)? A: i don't know yet, but i doubt it. from what i've heard it's extremely draining to keep multiple versions updated, but if enough people were to be interested (and tell me of said interest), then i guess also why not!
Q: Cornvernge A: Cornvernge
for modpack developers
although it's an addon to other mods, you could in theory remove the dependencies, since they're there only because of the loot table and recipes. if you have better ideas on how to use the items this project adds, don't be afraid to fork the mod on it's github and give it your own spin! i'd love that hehe~
also of courseee you can add it to your modpack, i'd love if it were added to every modpack under the sun go do it
WARNING: here be nerd stuff
the idea for this mod has come when i learned that there really isn't all that much metal that's native. i've read somewhere that electrum is the only native alloy, so since amazing mod oreganized had it's own cool take on it, it seemed like an easy enough project to acomplish within a reasonable timeframe.
the idea for the placer itself originated from the the name given to deposits within rivers, such real-life things do hold more than just native metals, but i felt that it'd be sufficient if i represented that with nothing more than flint. hope it bothers you! that means you can make another addon that adds more stuff, like zircon gemstones, or something like that
it seems to me that there are more native alloys, according to this wikipedia article at least, but i couldn't find any info on such topics, and the source from which i learned that native electrum is the only naturally occuring alloy seemed to imply that everything else that'd be a candidate oxidizes, thus isn't exactly native. take this as you wish, i chose to include electrum because of the Rule of Cool
the graphics for the placer itself suck, i know, but at least the items have slightly cool textures, right...? i know the platinum looks like a duck ok it's fine i'm telling you they were inspired by these two amazing pictures:
