Echo Rifts are a new feature that's sure to make Minecraft's endgame more fun! Echo Shards now drop from Sculk Shriekers, and Reinforced Deepslate drops when mined with a Netherite Pickaxe.
Echo shards and eyes of ender can be crafted into an Eye of Echo, a brand new item that has a unique, endgame-convenient use for those who have lots of far away structures and are tired of flying or using nether highways!
When it lands, it creates an Echo Rift, which links to your CURRENT spawnpoint at the moment of its creation. This can be an easy way to dump your items if your inventory is full, or a quick way to get back home! Ender pearl stasis chambers are no longer needed!
Echo Rifts are naturally unstable, and so only last a minute before they disappear. But by stabilizing them with Reinforced Deepslate (Bedrock works as well), they will remain for as long as they are needed!
The best part is, you can link any two areas of the world together, by setting on rift to your home base, and set your spawn at that location, then go back home through the rift and place another rift! You can even make several rifts in your home base that link all over the world, meaning Nether Highways are no longer needed.
NOTES
These are dimension specific, so overworld rifts will only spawn if you have an overworld spawnpoint, and vice versa for the Nether. If you don't have a spawnpoint in that dimension, you will be given back your Eye of Echo. As for the End, it links back to the Obsidian Platform. Additionally, if thrown onto another player, the placement will also fail, and you will also be given back the Eye of Echo. This is to avoid making your spawnpoint into a trap and instantly forcing players into it
