update 4 now available on Neoforge 1.21.1!!!

Ever wondered why you cant polish dripstone, or cut iron? Spelunker's Palette overhauls Minecraft's mineral options with careful additions to make their blocksets consistent!
Stone Blocks
- Natural rocks (where applicable) drop a Cobbled variant just like Stone and Deepslate.
- Use them in recipes like Cobblestone, or smelt them/use Silk Touch to access Polished, Brick, Cracked, and Chiseled versions, complete with stairs, slabs, and walls!

- Andesite, Diorite and Granite don't have cobbled variants for inventory bloat reasons. In the future, I'll include the option to make them drop regular Cobblestone by default for consistency!
Metal Blocks
- Iron, Gold, and Copper storage blocks can be crafted into 32 Plating blocks for easy building.
- Plating can be made into Cut variants, which offer stairs and slabs like vanilla Copper, or Chiseled versions.
- New Gold doors and trapdoors can be crafted just like their Iron and Copper counterparts!
- All new Iron blocks, including doors and trapdoors, rust over time!

- Copper Ore's loot table has been made consistent with other metal ores, dropping 1 Raw Copper by default or more with Fortune. This balances the 32x output buff its decorative blocks receive.

FAQ

What's the point? Mining is one of the best parts of Minecraft! I like when it ties back into building, so I wanted to make the resources you extract from the depths more decoratively useful. I also wanted to make the available block variants more consistent for the sake of simplicity.
-
Create already adds these blocks. You're right! Create's implementation of stone variants is extremely thorough. This mod offers a more measured, vanilla-aligned approach, with unique patterns and styling for each blockset.
-
Aren't cobbled variants bloat? I included them because it was important that the 'special' stones felt more like the major two stone types. For pack devs, they might feel at home being used more extensively in worldgen.
-
Why do I have to smelt them or use Silk Touch? I chose to require the non-cobbled variant for most recipes because furnaces are fun! There are lots of ways to build smelting setups and even more ways to decorate them so I like giving them extra uses even if you can always just use Silk Touch.

Do you have plans for future updates? ~~I want to make Iron Doors and Trapdoors oxidize! ~~ (done :3) I also might adjust some vanilla crafting recipes, like Polished Deepslate, to be more consistent with the way polished blocks are normally crafted. I am also considering adding building blocks for other mined resources, like Lapis Lazuli or Amethyst. Send me any ideas you have! I really don't know what to do with outliers like Smooth Stone or Deepslate Tiles....
-
Why does iron only have 3 oxidation states? I didn't feel like making 4. 3 is plenty.

Thank you for checking out my first mod!
tried to prioritize consistency, completeness, and decent textures. i was very much inspired by Architect's Palette- i hope someone enjoys it <3
